A tawa pan, also known as a tava, tawah, saj or sac is a large flat wok or griddle used to make flatbreads. Tawa pans are used throughout South, Central and West Asia. Use this tawa pan to make Indian chapati, roti and dosa. Tawas are also useful for shallow-frying slivers of meat and paneer cheese.
The tawa pan is made of carbon steel with a wooden handle.
Seasoning Instructions
To season the tawa pan, wipe the surface with cooking oil. Pour 5ml of oil onto the pan, bring to a high temperature, and then when a smoky-haze appears remove it from the heat. Now the pan is ready to use. Always ensure there is enough oil in the pan when using, and wipe with a paper towel after use. If the pan needs washing, ensure it is completely dried and lightly-oiled before storing.
Not suitable for induction hobs or dishwashers.
